Kitanagoya · Aichi Prefecture · Japan

Want to go museum #hidden gem #retro #showa

昭和日常博物館 — "not just an ordinary Showa museum": a museum of everyday Showa-era life near Nagoya, filled with items actually used at the time. Immersive walk-in recreations of Showa streetscapes (complete with a Daihatsu three-wheeler and vintage signage), plus detailed displays of tableware, medicines, children's goods and gifts (ashtrays as presents — very Showa). Only ¥300 to visit and "the highlights melt hours away." The reel also covers the Aderia glassware retrospective ("はじまりのアデリア図鑑", until May 31), tracing the beloved 1961 Aderia / Aderia Retro glass series with rare pieces like the Alice-pattern ashtrays and barley-tea pots. Recommended stop when visiting Nagoya.
