深化 ("Deepening") — a hidden 8-seat submarine bar in the Taniroku area, built from real 1930s submarine parts (no replicas): riveted steel walls, valves, gauges and reels salvaged into a steampunk sub interior by stage designer Ezaki (who also did NORTH VILLAGE's Shibuya flagship). No menu — tell the bartender what you want (he speaks some English). No reservations; 8 seats only. Open 19:00–3:00, closed Wednesdays. Finding it is the game: 5-min walk from Tanimachi 6-chome Station into a residential area — look for a narrow alley with a light at the end, a small white sign on a wooden door, next to a white clothing store. "Go find the door."
